Highway 98 Cros,;og Fly C,eck w;th, mtal b;d pm~ -·--_, Corey Martin, Council President CONSENT TO HOLD ING OF MEETING The undersigned mcmhcrs of the City Council of the C'ity of Fairhope , Alabama. do hereby ocknowlcdgc service nf the Notice and Coll of Special Emergency Meeling hcrcinahout ~ct forth and do hereby consent to the holding of such meeting as such lime in such place for the purpose set forth therein 10432 2 May 2024 STA TE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in Special session at 11 :00 a.m ., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 , on Thursday, 2 May 2024. 10433 Pre sent were Council President Corey Martin, Councilmembers : Jack Burrell and Kevin Boone, Mayor Sherry Sullivan, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmembers Jimmy Conyers and Jay Robinson , and City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell were absent. There being a quorum present, Council President Martin called the meeting to order at 11 :00 a.m .; and announced that the Special-Called Meeting was due to the need to repair and /or replace the water main at U . S. Highway 98 crossing Fly Creek. The invocation was given by Councilmember Kevin Boone and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited . Councilmember Boone introduced in writing , and moved for the adoption of the following resolution , a resolution to award Bid No. 24-042 Water Main Repair/Replacement at U . S . Highway 98 Crossing Fly Creek (Option No. 1): replace the water main from south of Woodlands Drive along Highway 98 to north of Fly Creek which would eliminate the existing hydraulic restriction under Woodlands Drive and replace the broken 12-inch water main under Fly Creek. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Burrell. Mayor Sullivan thanked the City Council for holding this Special-Called Meeting and explained this project will increase the line and help with the flow. Councilmember Burrell asked how deep this pipe will be and the size . Water and Wastewater Superintendent Daryl Morefield replied at least 10 feet below Fly Creek ; and this will expand the capacity going North. Councilmember Burrell also questioned how long this project would take. Mayor Sullivan and Mr. Morefield said hopefully in three weeks. Mr . Morefield said this project will increase the volume, help with pressure, and redundancy of the pipe. Engineer from Kimley Horn was present to answer any questions. Councilmember Boone commented HDPE pipe will move and bend with the mud. Council President Martin reiterated this project will increase the volume, help with pressure , and redundancy of the pipe . After further discussion , motion passed unanimously by voice vote . 10434 2 May 2024 RESOLUTION NO. 5056-24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, as follows: [ 1] That the City of Fairhope did request, receive, and open bid s to procure services for (Bid No . 24-042) Water Main Repair/Replacement at U. S. Highway 98 Crossing Fly Creek for the Water Department at 555 South Section Street, City of Fairhope offices, Fairhope, Alabama. [2] At the appointed time and place, bids were received and tabulated as follows: Contractor Gator Boring & Trenching , Inc . Equix Energy Services Norris Bros Excavating, LLC Option No. I $599,304.75 $662,282.50 $861,426.50 Option No. 3 $317,990.20 $527,257.50 $492,244.50 [3] After evaluating the bids with required specifications, G tor Boring & Trenching, Inc. is now awarded (Bid No. 24-042: Option No . 1) Water Main epair eplacement at U .
