AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH MONTHLY SALARY
FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS;
CITY OF FAIRHOPE CODE OF ORDINANCES (SECTION 2-21)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE,
ALABAMA FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the salary of the Mayor of the City of Fairhope, Alabama shall be
and the same is hereby fixed at the amount of Thirty -Two Thousand
Four Hundred dollars ($32,400.00) payable in equal monthly
installments out of the City Treasury.
Section 2. That each Councilmember shall be compensated at the sum of Nine
Thousand Six Hundred dollars ($9,600.00) payable in equal monthly
installments out of the City Treasury.
Section 3. That the City of Fairhope Council President shall be compensated at the
sum of Ten Thousand Eight Hundred dollars ($10,800.00) payable in
equal monthly installments out of the City Treasury.
Section 4. The mayor and members of the City Council will have the option of
participating in the City of Fairhope's Group Health Insurance Plan.
Section 5. That the City Council hereby repeals and replaces the following
Ordinances: Ordinance No. 568, Ordinance No. 731, Ordinance No.
803, Ordinance No. 888, Ordinance No. 993, Ordinance No. 1195,
Ordinance No. 1352, Ordinance No. 1353, and Ordinance No. 1449.
Section 6. This ordinance shall become effective on the first Monday in November
2016, and shall continue in force and effect until repealed by action of
the council.
Section 7. The sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this
ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph
or section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional by a court
of competent jurisdiction, then such ruling shall not affect any other
paragraphs and sections, since the same would have been enacted by the
municipality council without the incorporation of any such
unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
