AMENDING THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE CODE OF ORDINANCE
(SECTION 2-21) MONTHLY SALARY
FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRROPE, ALABAMA
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the salary of the Mayor of the City of Fairhope, Alabama shall be and
the same is hereby fixed at the amount of Fifty Thousand dollars
($50,000.00), plus $Five Thousand dollars for continued education, Once
CMO is received will receive an additional $5,000.00, Once Advance CMO
is received will receive an additional $5,000.00, payable in equal monthly
installments out of the city treasury. All proper certificates must be turned
into the city treasury before the additional pay will began, and will not be
paid retroactive.
Section 2. That each Councilmember shall be compensated at the sum of Seven
Thousand Two Hundred dollars ($7,200.00) plus $Five Hundred dollars for
continued education, once CMO is received will receive an additional
$500.00, Once Advance CMO is received will receive an additional $500.00,
payable in equal monthly installments out of the city treasury. All proper
certificates must be turned into the city treasury before the additional pay
will began, and will not be paid retroactive.
Section 3. That the City of Fairhope Council President shall be compensated at the sum
of Nine Thousand dollars ($9,000.00) plus $Five Hundred dollars for
continued education, once CMO is received will receive an additional
$500.00, Once Advance CMO is received will receive an additional
$500.00payable in equal monthly installments out of the city treasury. All
proper certificates must be turned into the city treasury before the additional
pay will began, and will not be paid retroactive.
Section 4. The mayor and members of the city council shall receive such non -salary
fringe benefits and shall have the right to participate in such plans and
programs as are generally available to all full-time employees of the City of
Fairhope as authorized by law.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective on the first Monday in November
2008, and shall continue in force and effect until repealed by action of the
council.
Section 6. The provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared severable; if any portion
of this ordinance shalt be held unconstitutional or otherwise invalid by a
court of competent jurisdiction, such ruling shall not affect the remaining
portions of this ordinance.
